James Franco on Rise of the Apes

From the comes this pictures of James Franco working on the new Planet of the Apes film: Rise of the Apes. The film will be a prequel to the Planet Of The Apes story and lucky Franco also gets to act alongside beautiful leading lady, Slumdog Millionaire starlet Frieda Pinto.
Franco hasn’t worked with Frieda before, so it will be interesting to see if there’s chemistry between the pair.
But if sparks fly, it’ll have to stay on screen.
Franco has been dating 25 year-old actress Ahna O’Reilly for four years, while Freida is in a relationship with her Slumdog co-star Dev Patel.

First Rise of the Apes Pic

From comes an image of Andy Serkis as the rebellious ape leader Caesar in Rise of the Apes. The Lord of the Rings star is seen here with his co-stars Freida Pinto and James Franco—walking across a bridge.

Rise of the Apes, which is a very loose reimagining of 1972′s Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, opens June 24, 2011.

Rise of the Apes

The new Planet of the Apes movie seems to be making the right choices in its Caesar Rise of the Apes adaption. 20th Century Fox announced that Tom Felton (“Harry Potter’s” Draco Malfoy) has joined the cast. He’ll play Brian Cox’s son, co-owner of an ape facility.
James Franco, John Lithgow and Freida Pinto star in the Rupert Wyatt-directed sci-fi action adventure. Andy Serkis will do motion capture for the Caesar character.
Effects house Weta Digital (which for me adds to the movies validity) – employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for Avatar – will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.
Set in present day San Francisco, CAESAR: RISE OF THE APES is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
The film is scheduled for a June 24, 2011 release.

New Apes Film (Crap)

Production Weekly is reporting that 20th Century Fox’s “Planet of the Apes” prequel, called “Caesar,” has set up production offices in Burnaby, BC. Director Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) will begin filming mid-July.

Based on 1972 “Conquest of the Planet of the Apes,” the new film revolves around a doctor (Will) trying to cure Alzheimers. He’s working with monkeys to create a benign virus that can get into brain tissue and restore functionality. After his research is shut down he’s left with just one chimp, the child of his most promising subject. Young Caesar is incredibly intelligent for an ape, and over time he continues to mutate and evolve, looking less like a chimp and moving on from sign language to actual speech. Eventually Caesar ends up leading an army of apes in an uprising just as a catastrophe strikes mankind.
